In the beginning…
When my daughter was about 7 months old, it was time for me to retire from nursing my baby. I had been fighting my body from day 1 to keep up and the lack of response from my body told me it was time to quit.
I headed to my beloved place to go for advice. The mom blogs I found through Pinterest.
Tons of personal experience to read through. BUT I would read a few tips on one blog, a few tips on another blog and then a blog with tons of tips that completely negated everything that was said on the other blogs I was reading.
Contradicting advice and not finding thorough information on the advice I was seeking became old very quickly.
I continued to tell my husband, I should just start a blog and be the one stop shop for all the strategies and ideas for a single topic.
He continued to say, “do it.”
And so I did!
August 19th, 2017 I read through a ton of advice on where to host and how to promote and a ton of technological terms I never thought I would understand.
I published my first post the same day I got my domain name… How To Get Rid of That Stubborn Toilet Ring.
Here we are one year later, and 55 posts later!
I still have yet to write that post about weaning from nursing, but I’m sure that one will be on its way soon!
How far I have come in making this blog my own is insane! I know my way around several websites and technology (which is huge for me), I have learned how to write, advertise and design.
I went from sad design images like this….
I went from staying within the cookie cutter image that I was told to at the start and completely branched out to just doing what I wanted and it has paid off! The comments and private messages of people telling me I gave them the tip that made the difference has been so rewarding!
It has been hard at times, not writing the huge, heartfelt posts about relationships and parenting that so many bloggers beautifully do. I simply can’t get the same effect when I write. I’m more of a “how to” and “hack” blogger. But if I can help one person, it was worth it!
In one year, over 29,000 people have visited my humble little Magical Mama Blog.
That is a mind blowing number to me. I advertise to the people who follow my blog on social media and I attend some blog hops. I don’t reach out to companies or big time blogs, I don’t send out friend requests or private messages to bother people, I don’t have any special websites doing advertising, pinning, or posting for me.
I’ve done it all by hand and I’m proud to say it!
So here they are! My top 5 posts from my first year of blogging. Enjoy the look back!
The Top 5

This is my husband’s favorite post I have written! I wrote it a month into my blogging journey and did a ton of research and pulled random bits of knowledge from the past to make this huge post.
This reminds me that I need to refresh some of my current methods!

Nesting mistakes. We all make them. Pregnancy does crazy things to your brain. I hope to stop a few moms from climbing on ladders and spending too much money and wasting time… it’s exhausting just thinking of all the crazy things I did while pregnant!
This was 2 days into blogging for me! I still get messages about this post all the time!

When I saw that my little one was picking up on the sign language at day care, I decided to give it a go and my GOODNESS it paid off and still does! When your little one realizes you understand their needs and you’re able to break through that wall of communication, life gets good!
Definitely check out this post and give it a try!

I cannot believe this silly little post is my second most popular of the entire year! I wrote it 6 months into the blogging game and wrote it because I’m lazy! Meal prepping for a toddler can get very old very quickly and the meals you end up with for your toddler can end up… getting very old very quick in their eyes!
I wanted to make some simple recipes to make your meal prep quick and keep your toddler’s taste buds titillated!

My first ever post is the most popular?! HOW?!
I decided to start a blog and wrote out a post, experimented with making feature images and figuring out how Site Ground and WordPress worked in a few hours time.
Looking back at it, all of my images are horrendous and need to be completely re-done. The design of everything hurts my eyes and the narrative itself is a hot mess.
BUT this is the kind of useful information people are searching for on Pinterest like I was.
I can’t wait to see what my brain does over this next year!
Thank you for coming on this crazy journey with me! I could not have popular posts without fabulous readers like you!
